Knowledge Partner - NIF (National Innovation Foundation)
The Department of Science and Technology established National Innovation Foundation (NIF) of India in February, 2000, with the main goal of providing institutional support in scouting, spawning, sustaining and scaling up grassroots green innovations and helping their transition to self supporting activities.
The foundation’s Governing Council is chaired by Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, former Secretary, DSIR and former Director General CSIR. Dr. Anil K. Gupta, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and President, SRISTI is the Executive Vice Chairperson of NIF.
Together with the Honeybee Network, Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI) and Gujarat Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network (GIAN), NIF has been scouting innovations by farmers, artisans, women, etc. at the grassroots level. All to ensure evolution and diffusion of green grassroots innovations in a time bound and mission oriented manner.
